2. I am really nervous about learning to drive, how can you help me?
Quality Driving Lessons has had lots of experience dealing with nervous students. This is completely normal. We do have instructors who specialize in helping nervous pupils, and they are particularly patient and understanding. Our Instructors will help to build your confidence through our “success based” training programme.
3. Will my instructor expect me to know the basics of learning to drive?
No, your instructor will in many cases prefer you to have had no training. If you are starting with a clean slate the Instructor can tailor their instruction to suit your learning capabilities.
4. What is the first driving lesson like?
Don’t expect to dive straight in and start learning reverse around a corner, your first driving lesson will focus on the most basic elements of learning to drive. You’ll be introduced to all the car’s controls, from the windscreen wipers to the heater dials, and you may begin learning how to safely move off and stop. Our driving instructors will find a suitable place to build up your core skills and confidence. Once you have mastered most things, it’s time to go busier roads.
5. How often should I take lessons?
How often you have your lessons is entirely up to you. At Quality Driving lessons recommends at least 1 session of 2 hours per week. The more lessons you take the quicker you will learn and the more money you will save. A 1-hour lesson taken once a week would equate to taking between 9 months to 1 year to learn to drive.
6. Do I need to pass the theory test before I can start lessons?
No. In fact it is a good idea to learn the theory whilst you are learning the practical as it can bring the subject alive making it easier to understand and remember.
It is also possible to book semi-intensive courses.
7. Do Quality Driving Lessons do intensive courses?
Yes. This can be arranged by talking with our one of Driving Instructors. Our learn To drive In 2 Weeks course is extremely popular with students. The test can be arranged at the end of the week for a learner with some experience or 2-3 weeks later for complete novices.
8. How many lessons will I need to learn to drive ?
This depends very much on your general skills, age and the time you can invest in your driving lessons. According to official statistics, the average person takes about 45 Hours practical driving training with an approved instructor plus 22 private hours to pass the test. Generally, learners who have been cycling, riding a moped or have similar experience will learn to drive more easily. However, our friendly and professional instructors are trained to teach also those who are less skilled!
9. Are 2 hour driving lessons good?
Generally speaking and for most people learning to drive, 2 hour lessons are more beneficial than 1 hour lessons. There are a variety of reasons for this which include: Reduced learning time overall. Reduced costs to the learner and more time to practice, definalty.
10. I am very anxious, will I need more driving lessons than other learners?
From experience, there is generally no significant difference between the amount of lessons needed for anxious learners and those who are relatively confident. It is natural for new learners to think that they are more anxious than others, but they will
overcome this problem throughout the course. Remember, learning to drive with Quality Diving Lessons is supposed to be fun as well.
11. What is the most efficient way to learn to drive?
This depends very much on individual preferences, but most learners naturally become tired and less attentive after 2 hours of driving tuition. Therefore it is recommended not to exceed 2 hours of lessons at a time or to have a break in-between. In order to maintain the efficiency of your learning, it is important to continue with driving lessons on a very regular basis.
12. When I pass my test does Quality Driving Lessons provide further courses?

14. I have recently moved to the UK, and I am on International driving licence, can I transfer the driving licence from my home country?
Foreign licence holders from countries (not from EU ) specified on the DVLA website are generally allowed to drive in the UK for 12 months but have to pass a test before this time elapses in order to continue to drive as a “full licence holder”. To apply for the test foreign licence holders need a provisional licence just as UK applicants, but don’t have to display “L”-plates and don’t have to drive under supervision within the 12 months period.
